Allen J Roman
CTO
Allen J. Román is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed postdoctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing, polymer and composite materials, and artificial intelligence for materials and process development. He develops novel manufacturing platforms and high-throughput experimental workflows to understand and control processing-structure-property relationships in polymer systems. In addition to serving on the Executive Committee of the Polymer Processing Society, Prof. Román has authored numerous technical publications, a book, and several book chapters in polymer engineering. His research contributions have also resulted in patents related to advanced manufacturing technologies and polymer compatibilization chemistries.
Elias Tovar Henao
Process Engineer
Elias Tovar Henao specializes in the development and optimization of natural rubber latex processing technologies. He has more than eight years of experience in natural rubber latex production and formulation, including previous work at SOAN Laboratorios in Colombia. There, he developed protocols for latex stabilization and preservation, working closely with rubber plantations and tapping operations to improve latex quality and processing. He also contributed to the development of ammonia-free latex formulations for adhesive applications. In collaboration with AFLatex Technologies, LDA, he helped develop advanced natural rubber latex formulations for casting and dipping applications. At AFLATEX.TECH, he leads process and formulation development, focusing on innovative casting and dipping technologies and their scale-up for commercial manufacturing. He also serves as General Manager of La Guma S.A.S., AFLATEX.TECH’s experimental rubber plantation and pilot processing facility in Yarima, Colombia, where he oversees plantation and pilot plant operations, research and development, and an on-site materials characterization laboratory supporting product development, process optimization, and quality assurance.
